Liquid mirror telescopes (LMTs) are a new branch in the family of astronomical instruments. Their main feature is a reflective liquid in a container that is rotated around a vertical axis and thus forms a rotational paraboloid which can be used to focus light. It is possible to build very large liquid mirror telescopes with a reasonably low Size: KB. The Gregorian telescope, described by Scottish astronomer and mathematician James Gregory in his book Optica Promota, employs a concave secondary mirror that reflects the image back through a hole in the primary produces an upright image, useful for terrestrial observations. Some small spotting scopes are still built this way. There are several large modern telescopes that use.

The ferrofluid mirror changes shape instantly when a magnetic field is applied. As the ferromagnetic particles align with the magnetic field, the liquid becomes.

Spin the bowl, and the liquid will push toward the edges, forming a concave mirror as smooth as the best mirror : Clay Dillow.   TriArt Liquid Glass - Testing as a FINISH Coat For Acrylic Pour Painting. The most common liquid used is mercury, but other liquids will work as well (for example, low-melting alloys of gallium). The liquid and its container are rotated at a constant speed around a vertical axis, which causes the surface of the liquid to assume a paraboloidal shape. A light ray crosses from a piece of glass into a liquid.

You observe that the light ray bends closer to the normal passing from the glass to the liquid. Based on this observation, how does the index of refraction for the liquid compare to the index of refraction for the glass. The end comes for Thomas Cromwell—and for the brilliant trilogy about his life that began with Wolf Hall () and Bring Up the Bodies ().
